I don't see much changing. More sprawled housing with more shopping centers. More traffic, roads not adequate. The city doesn't want to spend the money to invest in infrastructure.

Courtesy of the lowest property taxes in the nation!

The city does, the people don't.

I grew up in Baton Rouge thirty years ago, and from posts here and elsewhere on this site it seems not much has changed. Traffic and crime were terrible in the 1970s and 1980s and they both are now apparently. My family was not native to Louisiana, and though we lived there 13 years, we were never accepted as anything but outsiders. Left in '82 and have never been back.

How were you considered outsiders?

When I meet people , I never ask them if they are native to Baton Rouge . Never had anybody ask me either . Some folks have a hard time making friends , and blame it on other people .

I think it's the same, I don't understand how people would shun you away because your not from BR.

I don't know how LSU can't be better. It's been around for over 100yrs yet universities like UCF (in orlando) founded in the sixties are sporting 55K student enrollment and doing all sorts of great stuff. There is simply no excuse to have a flagship university like LSU stagnate and barely get by.
