Infill projects are like annie_himself said, projects that fill in open space or suburban areas with more urban types of development. Think of the Perkins overpass area or some of the hotel projects touted for the BR CBD. Wasn't there some condo development proposed as well?

There's a huge plan in place for Nicholson Drive between Downtown and LSU. The stretch is currently kind of ghetto and run down but there are several new upscale condo/shopping developments that have already gotten the go-ahead to build. Now they are just waiting for the economy to recover and then they will start. There are a few places that got built before the real estate bubble burst, including Red Stick Lofts, Victory Commons and Fieldhouse condos. The biggest thing planned seems to be a thing called "River District" that will be a multi-use development built on the former site of a few dozen ugly ranch houses. They will also be removing the ugly sewage treatment plant on levee road.
