I'm living in Baton Rouge right now but I'm really only familiar with the area around LSU. I'm looking to find a place around $800/month.

Two of the places I'm looking at are The Villas on Villa Rose Dr. and Riverview Condos on N. 3rd st. I don't know much about the Garden District or downtown areas but do you think it would be safe for a female to live alone?

Also, I know some of the houses around the lakes can be rented but I haven't seen any listings online. Is my best bet to just drive around until I find a for rent sign?

Forget about driving around . Some of the Realty companies have people that can help with this , or try some of the apartment finder type of newspapers .

I know several people in that area. My advice is to drive thru the neighborhoods looking for rental signs and call them. Putting a ad only encourages the wrong element. If you know what I mean.
