Hi all, I have a ten year old dughter who has always wanted a kid sister, but unfort. my husband and I cannot have any more kids...anyway, we heard a commerical regarding a big brother/big sister program. I looked it up in Baton Rouge and saw that they no longer have that program here. Anyone out there have any other ideas to share? I have no idea and we do not want a foster child at this moment in our lives, but maybe in about a year. Any thoughts?

How about approaching one of the churches with an outreach program for youth? Or one of the homeless shelters for women? How about play dates at an orphanage, or perhaps volunteer with the Miracle League? She may just simply be too young to do much at all, but perhaps with you volunteering as well?

I'm not sure how much success you will have unless you are known personally to the church or whatever - I'd think there would need to be some type of clearance or background check. Good luck in your search.

That is a good idea! I contacted Big Buddy Program here and have a meeting/orientation next month, but will look into the churches as well as the Miracle League-thanks so much!!!!
