my husband and i will be staying there for about 4 days. It was within our budget and wasnt too far from the river center ive read some mixed reviews on red roofs website. Is this an area where we should stay inside at night or is it safe to venture out for dinner and a movie and since the room is none smoking we will have to go outside to smoke so im just curious about the area since the reviews were so mixed.

You'll be fine. Watch people when you're taking a smoke outside though, hotels are hotspots for stickups and such because of tourists but that's anywhere.
