Twenty-five year old female considering moving to Baton Rouge to go to school for Natural Resource Management. I'm thinking about maybe Baton Rouge CC at first and looking for an apartment within 20 miles of campus. I'm moving from Alabama. While I've got family in other parts of lower LA, I've never been to Baton Rouge for more than a day. Any suggestions or comments on the area would be greatly appreciated.

Like any other city , there are parts of town that are more desireable than others and there are parts of town to avoid . You really need somebody local to lean on for advice on a real time basis . Some Realty companies have apartment finder services . A 20 mile radius from BRCC gives you a lot of options .

You can give us a little more information and we can try to help find you a decent place to live or you can tell us which places you are considering and we can tell you if the area is safe or not.

Apartments on Corporate Blvd are nice- kinda pricey. Most apartments highway are nice-kinda pricey. Don't do Blvd De Providence or anywhere in the La Belle Area for apartments. Tell us where you are looking and we can most likely tell you if you wanna be there.

Just about the entire metro area is within 20 miles of the BRCC. I'd look around "mid-city".

Default Moving to Baton Rouge

Like most cities in the US Baton Rouge has areas which are reported to be worst than others; however, there are areas in which crimes are not reported at the same rate; which means you can find good housing in BR within the 20 mile radius of BRCC. However, housing in any area is costly. Louisiana' s housing (rental) market was not effected by the downfall of the housing market.
