Hi all, we are coming to Baton Rouge to do a project for about 4 months or so at the end of the year. We are looking at this great place right round North Blvd and S 22nd st. Somebody told us that this is a bad neighborhood and when we look at the street view, it does kind of look rundown, however the house we like doesn't look the greatest on the outside, either but it is absolutely beautiful on the inside. Is this a high crime area?

It is a perfect location for where we need to be but we also don't want to put ourselves into a vulnerable position, safety wise. I did do a search and only find things about north 22nd and everything north of Florida. Any information anybody could give us about North Blvd and S22nd street would be much appreciated.

Thank you!

I would feel fine there, but I'm born and raised here. For a short time period I think you'd be fine. But the area is very close to bad neighborhoods, but just as close to great neighborhoods and downtown. Not of property crimes happen in that specific couple of blocks because Florida Blvd is a good barrier and there's many businesses in the area. Most of the crime here stems from drug involvement.

That is extremely helpful. Thank you so much.

Since you were born and raised here and I might still have your ear, what neighborhood is the most artsy and eclectic? Thanks again.

I would probably say Perkins Rd Overpass (Perkins Rd from roughly City Park to S Acadian), Downtown, the whole Government St. corridor, and LSU's Northgates (Highland Rd at E Chimes). Capitol Heights (Cap Hghts Blvd) and the Garden District (Park Blvd and everything east to Acadian) is getting more eclectic people it seems.
