Hi!! I am looking for some info on the Accension Parish area. My husband and I are looking to move in early 09. He has accepted a position working in Convent, LA. The realtor that we are working with suggested living in the Praireville area because it would be closer and safer commute than commuting from the New Orleans area. Any comments/ suggestions? We have a 7 month so school system isn't a huge concern right now. We are looking for a friendly neighborhood since we will be needing to meet friends. I would prefer to stay around the 200's for a housing but, is that going to be difficult? We are planning a trip in a few weekends and would love to have a few ideas or suggestions to start the progress. thanks

Default praireville will probably work

I don't know much about the commute, but there are a lot of young couples in Prarieville. Also you can probably find housing around the 200's without problem depending on what you are looking for. I live in Baton Rouge but go to Prarieville to shop and eat at the places that are close to the Baton Rouge side.

If you like a rustic atmosphere then you may like Prairieville. Its about 10 miles outside of BR.

We live in south Baton Rouge, close to Prarieville. WE just love it here and the amount of people in their 30's and 40's is unreal. There are so many families here and a lot of family friendly activities that we have a to do list for every weekend. We hope you like it here and best of luck in the neighborhood search!

Yes, the Prairieville and Gonzalez area are pretty good places to live and a lot of new neighborhoods. It's growing more and more each year. My friend just found a 1500 sq. ft new construction for 155k (it dropped from 170k) in Gonzalez. I think you will be ok with the 200k range.
