My boyfriend and I are moving from Florida to Baton Rouge around the 31st/1st for his new job and I have a few questions:

Does anyone know of any good apartments, located in a reasonably safe area, for under $900 for a 2 bedroom (must allow cats and have a washer/dryer or washer/dryer connections in apt)? We're looking to be no more then 20 minutes away from Florida Blvd. (his job is located on Florida between Ocean Dr. and Donmoor Ave.) We don't have kids, so schools don't matter.

And, is the Essen Lane area nice? I'm really liking an apartment on that street, but know nothing of the area.

Thanks in advance!

Yea Essen Ln. is a safe area. Between I-10 and I-12 is the best, I can't remember the name of the apt's though. Also check out Jefferson Hwy between Essen and Corporate Blvd...some nice complex's along there near BR Country Club.

Also, Corporate Blvd has The Gates at Citiplace which are kinda ritzy...gated community...although they're probably more than $900. One street I used to live on is Carol Marie Dr. off of Acadian Thruway...some great townhouses that came with w/d, carports, and lots of trees to keep cool in summer. Good neighborhood with mixture of 30 somethings, young professionals, grad students...near Catholic H.S.

And there are some nice places at the intersection of Goodwood Blvd and S. Foster. Those are pretty close to Florida Blvd.

You definitely wanna live south of Florida Blvd. And for that matter try and stay even south of Government St.

Hope this helps and happy hunting.

I'd like to throw in a couple more nice apartments: Mansions On the Park (Perkins between Kenilworth and Essen) and the Parks at Bluebonnet (Bluebonnet near Perkins across the street from the post office)
