Does anyone know how the housing market is here in Baton Rouge. We are putting our house up in a nicer neighborhood for the lowest price in the neighborhood with a corner lot and fenced in yard and very clean. It is in the mid 300,000's. Any ideas how it may sell???

Market is slow, but not as bad as in other parts of the country.

It's not going to sell as quick as it would have in 2005/2006, but it will eventually sell.

Thanks for the information. We are not in any hurry to sell it, but would like it to sell within 6 months if possible.

Showings have definitely increased in the past 3 weeks. Interest rates are low but are beginning to creep up a little bit. Having a corner lot is definitely a plus to a lot of buyers. I agree with southland it should eventually sell. Good that you are not in a hurry right now. Hang in there. Sounds like you did your homework on how to price it. Your first 3 weeks on the market will tell you a lot.

Unless you are over priced, a 300K home should sell very easily in 6 months...provided the market doesn't deteriorate. 300K is upper middle class....lots of that in Baton Rouge.

I'd be worried if I was trying to sell something that was 450K and higher.

Thanks for your replies! Will see what we end up doing. I am so happy in our neighborhood, but looking for a more inexpensive home and public schools as private is killing our bank account!

Sorry to hear that.

Baton Rouge does have good private schools. Lots of folks are in your position across the country....we are all trying to spend less these days.
