My husband and I are renovating a beautiful old (1860s) house downtown. We looked into replacement windows and really dislike the idea of aluminum or vinyl, particularly since the neighborhood is historic. Many of our windows are original but have fallen into a state of disrepair (affecting our heating/cooling costs). Does anyone know of carpenters who repair old windows in the BR area? We really don't want to switch to aluminum exterior but really need to increase the energy efficiency and draftiness in the home.

Thank you!
Josie

Have you thought of using a millworks shop to build replacement windows?

Not sure if they are still in business but I have used Capital Millworks out of Baton Rouge for wood windows on jobs a few years back.

I also googled and came up with Tully Millworks. Open the link and go to the window section for pictures of their work.

Pella also makes replacement wood windows but not sure if they can do custom work.
