So I make my annual trip down to Gonzales, for the last 6 yrs I have made the trip. Now I bring my golf clubs, where is a good cheap city or county course in the city of baton rouge or out in the country is fine also. Maybe a nice scenic golf course will do also? I will travel up to an hour to golf so please help I will be down Saturday.

Play at the old LSU course, I believe it is just south of campus off of Nicholson. I played there once for about $7, though I had a student ID from another school in the LSU system. Even without a student discount, it's a very cheap, enjoyable round of golf.

For beaches, Grand Isle is about it. For golf courses, there are a couple of public courses in Hammond and one in Denham Springs

Hammond, Louisiana Golf Courses
Denham Springs, Louisiana Golf Courses

Gulf Shores, by far. I agree - Grand Isle isn't much in terms of beaches, but it's all we have in Louisiana. Also, I like Destin/Ft Walton Beach/Navarre even more than Gulf Shores.
