You should not have any problems. Their are plenty different Nationalities leaving here.IMO the blacks and whites are the biggest problem as far as getting along.

I can't imagine you having a problem here. Besides the Vietnamese community, I don't think we really have a large established asian community here, but we do have dedicated Korean churches and I think the Chinese community is fairly established here. There's offering Mandarin classes now (even outside of LSU, which I'm somewhat interested in now) and at LSU the China study program has expanded greatly.
I honestly don't know much about the Japanese community here.
It's certainly not like Houston or L.A., but for Louisiana, I think BR and NOLA have fairly diverse communities where generally everyone is accepted.
We can steer you away from the bad areas of town though if that's your major concern.

You will love South East Louisiana. You have nothing to fear. Lots of fresh seafood like Houston and the people will treat you nicely. My wife is Filipino and she loves it.

I am friends with some Koreans and Vietnamese, and they all like it here. I've never heard anyone having any problems, and I don't know of anyone who has expressed any predjudice against Asians. You know New Orleans has an Asian U.S. Representative. Come on down! You'll love it.

My neighbors are Asian and they seem to like it here, we have had gripe sessions on the front porch over other things (i.e. road construction, parish gov't, etc.) but complaints about being mistreated over race have never come up. The family has been here for 12 years, have school age children, are business owners and investors in a few popular restaurants in the area. They have said on several occassions they plan to stay forever, so I also take those things as signs they have never encountered any problems.
