Well after being with Farmers since moving and buying here in 2007 this year out the blue they decided to throw a 3% named stormed deductible on me and hiked my policy from 1600 to 2200!!! No way! I went to Bierman Ins. Agency as they offer various companies and they were able to get me the same coverage I had with Farmers for 1530, plus the name storm deductible is the same as my normal deductible, 1K.

He got it through Safeco, my car was already with them so I was able to get that discount too. So definitely shop aroung and try to find an Agency like the one I used that offer policies from multiple companies vs one only. I checked on line and their rating with JD Powers was a tad better than Farmers, so I felt comfortable making the switch.

1-4 year old house, say $1000-1200

15-20 year house say $1500-2000

Ending up going with Lib Mut. HOI will be just under 1K w/ moving the auto policies over, which wasn't much different than having been with Progressive for 6 years. The downer is the home was remapped into the flood zone post Katrina. During one of the recent monsoons we were at the house for a visit, and the dern thing didn't even puddle. Also during and after both Katrina and Gustav, the local bayou and neighborhood retention pond never got out of their banks. Love the feds..... So of course, flood insurance to come, which will likely be about 800. Yea.
