I'm a 32-year old woman. I graduate next summer and planning to move to Baton Rouge to teach.

I'll be living alone in an apartment. I looked online and so far Willow Bend Lake Apartments looks promising. Any comments on it?

I know I should find a place near work, but I'd rather find a one-bedroom that I like that is about $800-$900 per month. A commute doesn't bother me if I'm happy where I live and work.

We're planning to go there in a month to celebrate my nephew's birthday. (He wants to spend a night in a BR hotel).

Any tips or suggestions?

I think more ppl will reply with specific information. In general I do remember that area when I live on that side of town. Its quiet back in there and not too much traffic going through either but also near Sherwood and Coursey (main roads) plus you'd be directly by the interstate so you can get to anything quickly.

You didnt say where you are moving from or what grade level you would be teaching (If I were you Id be picky about which school I teach at).

In about a month (less Im sure) it will be hot! So get a hotel with a pool!

I live about 45 mins away in Lafayette and currently attend UL, so I'm used to the heat and humidity. I'm ready for warmth. I'm getting tired of all of this cold. I am in no means ready for the summer, just more Spring-like weather.

Sounds like a good area. The quiet will be nice, so will the interstate.

I'm open at this point on grade level and school. My mom's taught in all sorts of schools and I learned from her that every child needs to be taught.

Thanks for the info!
