Looking for an apartment in BR. In our mid 30s any ideas where to live? My girlfriend is in sales and her territory is along I-12. What are some cool areas to live in?

There are some great ones in the southeastern part of BR at the Millerville exit off I-12, and along Coursey Blvd, George O'Neal Road, Jones Creek Road, and Jefferson/Tiger Bend. I wouldn't live anywhere else in Baton Rouge, personally. That would put you near I-12 too, as opposed to I-10 or I-110.

My personal recommendation: "Evergreen at Coursey Place," at the intersection of Coursey Boulevard and Hickory Ridge Boulevard

Try "The Reserve at Cedar Lodge" Great place in a pretty hip part of town. Awesome location next to everything. You can get a 1 br lease out there for about $1K/month. I own one but its leased out. Hope this helps.

Depends on your price range and preferences (buying or renting).

There's some nice newer apartment complexes of N. Harrel's Ferry (west of Sherwood), Millerville, and Coursey. Those areas are very family oriented, however. The night life is a bit slower, in my opinion, on that side of town....but there are tons of affordable housing options. No shortage of comfortable, safe single family homes to choose from in that area either.

The "cool" areas in town are in the older parts of town mostly. Perkins Road Overpass area, Spanish Town/downtown, Capitol Heights, and the Garden District are where a lot of "dual income, no kids" residents choose to live.

If you define cool as pristine landscaping, great shopping, and tons of restaurants....you might prefer something off Jefferson or Corporate.

I second the motion of the poster (ohyeah75) who recommended the Reserve at Cedar Lodge. Very nice looking apartments in an excellent location, close to both the younger nightlife and the more mature shopping. But for some reason, it has VERY bad reviews at ApartmentRatings.com--any ideas why? Most people there seem to post negatives rather than positives, but even seemingly far less desirable apartment complexes still have better ratings than The Reserve. At any rate, I'd still investigate it, because the location might overcome deficiencies in management/building quality.

I've been offered a job at LSU and will be moving to Baton Rouge in about a month and have been following the forums to find out more about apartments in Baton Rouge. The apartments ktulu7 listed are a few that I'm looking at. How is the traffic from these areas to LSU (my new work place is near the Stadium)?

How are the apartments near Corporate Blvd or Perkins-Bluebonnet-Essen and how is the traffic to LSU?
