A masters ???

Hmmmmm.... Could this be ... Shetterly? King?

HA HA HA HA

(I have no idea.)

Oh well. I agree with Robie and Barram.

Seriously, there is room for all views in the Great City of Bend, and I have as much respect for you, irregardless of whether or not you agree with me. I was just being sarcastic.

I know, this isn't Seattle, L.A., Palm Springs, or New York. I am too sarcastic for Oregon. If I drop two other names, Peter Gordon and Lisa Schweitzer at USC in the heart of L.A., who knows what will happen (OUCH !) (I'm more than confident that you didn't get your masters' under either of them!) :-)

My apologies. Thanks for providing the other side of the story ...

Indeed (!) - even Richard Whitman, who I disagree with most of the time, made National Headlines the other day. His growth management and bike trail programs have resulted in Corvallis with the highest percentage of Cyclist Commuters in the nation, at 10% !!!

This is great news for Whitman and Oregon's TGM Office - Congratulations are in order !

A true example for other states to follow on bike lane / bike trail accessibility.

Bend has an awesome on and off road bike trail network, and soon, Bend will eventually see this 10% figure !

Wow. I didn't mean to stir the pot. Just looking for information, which it looks like I've found... in one form or another.

However, it sure sounds like heaven for an educated, liberal, socialist, environmentalist, atheist! I've heard Carl Marx lives there in a shared house with Trotsky and Lenin.

For the sake of transparency, I must admit, this rumor is true. They're all my neighbors. We plot our communist revolutions during the ohhh so clouded winter months.

Sheesh, where is the moderator?

I thought we were talking about climate.

I am tired of all the insults that people seem to like to throw at their fellow citizens, and try to call it conversation.

Default Would prefer not to see Democrats moving to Oregon but there is nothing that I could do about it nor would I want to

But you're a typical native Oregonian. Those of us from other states recognize this thread as sarcastic

However, you do know, I think, that Conservatives - myself included - in my heart and mind - do not want Democrats moving to the Northwest. Ultimately, Bend will become another Boulder or Durango, politically and in terms of the City's dense development. With neuropsychological testing, conservatives oppose high density, and liberals like high density cities including urban growth boundaries.

On the other hand, unlike the Liberals who set boundaries, I can't and never would try to stop anyone from moving anywhere because as a conservative I believe in freedom of expression, freedom of speech, etc.

And, I can assure you that there are plenty of conservative Republican environmentalists who share the same values of wilderness preservation as many of the Democrat environmentalists. Look at Dr. Bill Wattenburg who saved the Redwoods.

Frankly I don't care what your politics are. You could be a Marxist moving in next door, and I would invite you over for coffee.

1,000 Friends just testified in front of the Deschusets County commissioners - These types of controversies tear the state apart. It's really sad for the working people who are unemployed. Bend's new economic development program for entrepreneurs should help.

Deschutes County
Regional Economic Opportunity Analysis: The Board of County Commissioners continued its public hearing on the REOA until Oct. 31. They will hold a work session on the subject Oct. 3 to discuss specific criticisms of the program by 1000 Friends of Oregon. Bill Robie and Brian Meece testified in favor of the program. 1000 Friends of Oregon testified in opposition. The REOA has a short-term goal of identifying six sites in three jurisdictions in Central Oregon that hold the potential to become large lot industrial developments.
South County Local Wetland Inventory: The BOCC unanimously adopted the wetlands inventory, which will now become a part of the national inventory. The new inventory includes less than 3,400 acres of delineated wetlands. About 600 properties that had been mapped on the national inventory - which is less accurate – were removed by the new inventory.
The Central Oregon Association of REALTORS® is the voice of the real estate industry in Crook, Deschutes, Jefferson and Harney Counties. COAR serves REALTORS® by maintaining ethical standards, providing continuing education, promoting the value of REALTORS®, and advocating on behalf of the real estate industry. Central Oregon REALTORS® believe we can build better communities by supporting quality growth and seeking sustainable economies and housing opportunities that embrace the environmental qualities we cherish, while protecting a property owner's ability to own, use, buy, and sell property.

Default Hpc weather

One more thing I should include - I use all of these sites nearly every day.

HPC WEATHER from the weather service has an assortment of products, including the next 5 days of preciptation. As you'll see, the next 5 days has 10 times the amount of rain west of the Cascades compared to Ashland / Klamath Falls / La Pine / Bend / Prineville - Check the 120 Hour Rainfall Total Map -

http://www.hpc.ncep.noaa.gov/qpf/day1-5.shtml

That link is from the main page - with long range charts -

http://www.hpc.ncep.noaa.gov/

However, high clouds still make it over the Cascades to Bend.

The 15 Day Chart from SUNY-Albany is interesting -

Department of Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences - University at Albany - SUNY

And, the annual precip map for WA/OR/ID from the WRCC regional climate center in Reno - with the Cascade rain shadow -

So far this year, the winter sky has been phenomenal! It's been sunny and relatively warm for the entire month of December. Makes this Colorado girl happy! However, were one to visit Bend right now, they might get the impression that it's always like this. That happened to me in March 2008, when I first visited. It was sunny and in the low 70s for much of the week. I wonder when this weather pattern will break? I've heard La Nina will kick in later this year, February or so. Wonder if it will be nice like this through January!

Delta, you should be happy. I have been comparing skiies in Bend, Northern Colorado, and the foothills of C Springs, Via Webcams, almost daily for the last couple of months. Been a pretty close match, except we have gotten quite a bit of snow.

BTW 32 inches of snow reported up Boulder Canyon this morning!
