From this forum I understand that good jobs might be hard to find in Bend but I am curious if the Independent Contractor is finding things tough also. If possible, is it better to be self employed in Bend? How are the landscapers, builders, lawn guys, etc. doing?

Here's an example of na independent contractor: I recently needed some minor home repairs done. I hired a licensed contractor listed on Craigslist for $35 an hour. My luck because he's quite skilled and did a terrific job. He is not alone doing odd jobs until the economy gets better - I also had a guy hang some new shades for me who works as an independent for Costco. He used to have his own shop but it went under. You might see who is posting what on Bend's Craigslist to get an idea of where you might offer something that isn't already being offered by several.
