thank you very much for the response - I was curious on if the nights cooled enough so you weren't going to bed hot like I did when I lived on the East Coast I'm sure I'd have to get acclimated to the heat again no matter if its dry or humid lol

I was also curious about the number of sunny days in bend - I use a site called Moderator cut: link removed, linking to competitor sites is not allowed- and it says Bend has 162 sunny days a yr (not sure if that is accurate) I get a lot of rain where I am and one of the big reasons I moving is in my username - any other sites i could look at to compare cities and towns?

Depends how you classify sunny. Bend weather including cloud coverage is constantly changing. It is rare for Bend to have a day that is 100% cloudy or wet all day light hours. The Cascades do a good job of keeping away a lot of the gloom of the Willamette valley. I will say Bend is frequently breezy and 30 degree temp changes from day to day are not uncommon. It is a mix of mountain and desert weather. Very dynamic.

I think you answered it with the "keeping away the gloom" - I am looking for nice sunny days with partly cloudy but still sun just trying to run from the gloom and constant gray, and rain -- thanks for your response

Honestly, I don't find Bend very hot in summer most of the time. The average high temperature is right around 80 degrees, but that's only between July and August. Last summer we only had a few days over 90, and I don't think we hit 100 once. It's very different than an 80+ degree back east or down south with the humidity. An 80 degree day in Bend, feels like a 70 degree day back there. I almost never get too hot to sleep, and when it gets pretty warm, all you have to do is put a fan in the window and it cools right off. In fact, sometimes it's too cold on a summer night.

In terms of sun, it's more like 230 days or so. It's not as sunny as Colorado, where I am from (and miss), especially during the winter/spring. I find that the hardest time of the year in Bend. At this point in the year I'm sick of the cold, rain, snow and overcast skies. But the summers are phenomenal and the fall is usually pretty nice as well.

Bend is classified as "high desert", with a "semi-arid" climate.

Translated, dry, but cold with little precipitation. Summers can occasionally get hot, but average temps are cool and dry year round.
