Hello,

I am a retired FireFighter and am interested in moving to Bend from the midwest primarily for the weather. I am pretty handy and am interested in supplementing my income buying & renovating residential foreclosed or distresssed properties etc. Are there a generous amount of opportunities along these lines in Bend?

Thanks

There was a forum on Oregon Public Broadcasting last week that discussed the Bend housing market and what they said mirrored what friends of mine have been experiencing. Right now there are people or entities that are buying up homes under $300,000 (mostly those ranging in the $100,000s)and they are paying cash, so those who are in the market for inexpensive housing but want to finance are being left in the dust. So if you have some cash rather than financing, there may be room for you but that lower end market is starting ot dry up. Prices are starting to go up a bit
