Well, we do tend to move indoors when there is lightening.

Sometimes the lighting causes power outages. Bend is certainly not the only place that happens.

I enjoy the storms. I like the ozone smell and the cooler air. It's desert here, so we always need the water.

There was about an inch and a half of water in my feeders. I don't have a rain gauge, but I certainly got a lot of rain at my house. Whatever the official amount is, it only tells you what fell at the Redmond Airport.

Saw you had thunderstorms in Bend yesterday after a mostly sunny morning.

I imagine it was an all around horrific weather day for some and guess others adapted and survived in Bend's wonderfully horrible climate...

interestingly having the longest stretch of dry weather this year here at my VA home, even running the sprinkler for the very first time this year.

Happy "almost time for a new fall weather in Bend thread"

Yesterday's storm didn't drop much rain. But the exfoliating pumice infused hail was a real treat.

I saw the news headlines it was really intense in some areas.

Cool to learn about the "exfoliating pumice infused hail" that is yet another Bend climate award that you should make sure the Chamber of Commerce knows about so they can list that next to the 300 days of sunshine... :

Enjoy your weekend and get out there and report on any downtown lunch spots you try.

Indeed.

To hail and back
Late summer storm unloads rain, hail and high winds on Central Oregon

On the Cascade Lakes Highway, a semi trailer blasted through fresh hail — lots of it, though the bits of ice weren't as big as the “golf ball-sized" chunks reported in Malheur County to the southeast.

Weirdly enough, there was barely a drop of rain in our part of SE Bend. The sky off to the north-west was as dark as I've ever seen it.
