It's been a very cool start to fall this year (and pretty cloudy, rainy too). I'm hoping we have a few days where we reach the 60s. I've been firing up the woodstove consistently for about 2 weeks now. At least we have the sun in the forecast next week and it's shining today!

It all sounds good to me. Anyone tired of Bend weather? come on to VA.

It has been very grey and raining for days, now over 4-1/2" of rain the first 11 days of October and plenty more coming in the next week.

Yes I will take cloudy, cold and dry in Bend anytime compared to nearly year round wet climate here.

(We did have a dry September with several record warm days, had AC on most of the month)

Cold this am at 28 degrees. But sunny days are forecast with highs into the 60s by midweek!

Glad to hear it. Our entire house is in the ABF trailer (well, actually two trailers) and we start driving to our new home in Redmond this morning. It's cold here too, with a chance of rain/snow today. Looks like we'll drive out of it.

I am wondering why there is an autumn thread in Bend as there are some who constantly claiming Bend has no spring or autumn just 9 months of winter and a short summer?

Once again I guess it is perspective? It has seemed very autumn like there by my standards for quite sometime. Cool or frosty mornings and chilly to even warm afternoons.

I guess to some this is part of the 9 months of winter?

I have no doubt Bend can have very chilly times in the spring and fall, really it can be chilly to cold there year round.

It does seem a stretch to me to say there are no seasons as some constantly claim, to me that is as bad as the chamber claiming there are 300 days of sunshine. Both are rather silly based on the data.

I would love to have Bends current autumn like forecast here.

Sunny, with a high near 59. East wind around 8 mph.
Tonight Partly cloudy, with a low around 31. East wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm.
Wednesday Sunny, with a high near 62. South wind around 6 mph becoming light and variable.
Wednesday Night Mostly clear, with a low around 32. North wind around 6 mph becoming light and variable in the evening.
Thursday Sunny, with a high near 59. Light and variable wind becoming north around 5 mph in the afternoon.
Thursday Night Clear, with a low around 33.
Friday Sunny, with a high near 64.
Friday Night Clear, with a low around 29.
Saturday Sunny, with a high near 65.
Saturday Night Clear, with a low around 32.
Sunday Sunny, with a high near 63.
Sunday Night Clear, with a low around 32.
Monday Sunny, with a high near 60.

October is usually the transition from summer to winter. This week the weather is very nice. Perfect for hikes and biking. Most years my bike is already put away by now because I don't like riding in the cold.

Sunny days with highs of 65 during this time of the month are somewhat rare.

The trails are perfect this time of year. Sure I wear an extra layer up top and full finger gloves. Favorite time of year to ride. Soon enough I will be inside on the spin bike at ACB. Of course that just means skate ski season is quickly approaching.

Do you really stay warm at sub 30 degree temps? I can't.
