Hello, I'm new to camping in Oregon. I have some questions and I'm not even sure who I call to ask. There are some spots that Hoodoo maintains and I can't reserve alot of them ahead of time because they are
walk-in only. If I were to reserve a spot that isn't ideal but only so I can have a spot just in case the campgrounds are full when I arrive, can I change my mind without having to pay for both spots if there is a walk-in spot open the day I arrive? I plan on reserving ahead of time through Recreation.gov.
If there is no one there to hand out spots when people arrive how do they then not take the spots I reserved ahead of time?

This link has details - not sure if it applies to all campgrounds in the system.

If you go during the week, you are unlikely to have any problems. Friday night and Saturday morning, on weekends when the weather is nice, can get a bit crowded.

I find that once kids are in school, campground space is freed up quite a bit.

Campers do still work on the honor system and many of the campgrounds have campground hosts.
