We didn't stay, but we drove through the Crane Prairie campground. (scoping out our next adventure)

Campsites are very small and very close together. There appears to be only one loop where sites can be reserved and that is down next to the lake. Parking spots are really small and it looks to me like it might be difficult to fit both a travel trailer and a tow vehicle into one. Unhitching would be required in most of the sites and many of them are not wide enough to unhitch and park next to your trailer.

There are a few pull through sites, but not many. There are a couple of handicapped sites, with paved parking.

Sites were clean and had tables and fire rings. Some of the fire rings were right at the edge of the parking, which looks a bit risky for your vehicle.

The huge big plus is that you can rent a fishing boat. The lake is gorgeous and the campsites are nice, if you can get yourself fit into one of them.

Terrain is a bit hilly, so involves some walking up and down hills.

We saw a total of one site that looked like it might work for us and it could be reserved. Maybe we will stay in that one, or maybe , we will just use Crane Prairie for a picnic day trip site. It's beautiful, close to town, and worth the drive for a day trip to picnic or fish.

Funny, we did the same thing on our way home from Wickiup this past Monday - drove along the east side of the lake on a dirt road to Crane Prairie Campground. This campground is on the northeast edge of the lake in a lovely cove. My Dad is coming to visit in July, and is adamant about a trip to fish/camp Crane Prairie, since that's the lake he fished 50 years ago with success. There is a nice day use area and boat ramp adjacent to this campground.

I agree with your assessment of the small-ish and slop-ish sites, although I appreciated that the main roads through the campground were paved (unlike Sheep Bridge at Wickiup). The Blue loop along the shore had absolutely gorgeous views of Mt. Bachelor and Sister(s). Some of the other loops were a major distance from the shoreline, which would be great for those seeking privacy, but not so great for kayaking or other water adventures.

I'd be interested in what Rock Creek Campground looks like (along the Cascade highway). We did not venture over to that side.
