No winter 2014-2015 thread for Bend however lots of data and discussions in last year's thread.

Now that I live here my first two "bigger" snows have been drier and fluffier than the typical snows back in VA.

Even with the sleet and ice layer in the November snow the cold made is easier to shovel than I am used to. (at least if you clear it before a freeze thaw cycle)

Will be interesting to see what happens the rest of the Winter.

I have observed that the forecasts here seem more like a suggestions than what will really happen. LOL

The couple frosty inversions are new to me also.

Happy New Year CD friends!

Yeah, this recent storm is very light and dry. Like it!

Default Winter 2014/2015 official thread

I went ahead and created a new thread for this year so we could post observations relevant to this winter season.

Only about 4" of snow near Dry Canyon in Redmond. Cold though - about 4 degrees this morning.

Beautiful pictures of the snow, we're excited to actually get some snow next winter after the move, (if it ever snows here, it usually melts within 6 hours) although those single digit temperatures may take a little while to get used to. brrrrr

This Arctic cold is not as cold as last December's blast, but once you get below zero, it really doesn't matter. It's downright cold! According to weather underground, it got down to -7° last night and -6° the night before. I know we've been running the woodstove non-stop for 2 days and even with that going all night, I woke to temps in the low 60s inside. I'm enjoying it though. The cold with the sun is beautiful! We did venture out yesterday afternoon to do some shopping in the Old Mill though, and it was a zoo! Between the snow & the extra holiday traffic, it took us about 20 minutes longer than normal to make the trip there. Could be worse though. At least we only have to deal with this on a limited basis.

We showed -13 this morning in TRS. But much better than here in Colorado where we had -29. Still -27 at 10:30

Ouch that is too cold for my liking. Some near the river see ice jams today
