We own about an acre of land which near Sunriver. We are considering building a home 1400 sq ft of less. This would be a vacation home.

We are looking for a builder to work with and so far all I have come up with is Adair homes. Has anybody had experience with them?

Is there another builder out there that might be able to do something for us?

Thank you

Yes. My son has an Adair. Very solid construction, very plain. You get a good price and then as you can afford it, you do some upgrades.

I was just in their office this week (in Redmond). They now have a bit more flexibility about options and finishes.

HiLine Homes has some good floor plans.

New Era does a good basic house. Some of their floor plans are a bit odd, but there are a couple of good ones. I've been inside one under construction and the construction looks solid.

West Coast Builders does a really cute house, but they are in Terrebonne so I don't know if they will go as far as Sunriver.

Also, I have no idea what sort of prices they charge, but Reinhardt Homes offers some stock plans. The floor plans are good. But all I know about them is what I've seen online. You'll have to call them about prices.

There are a lot of builders in the area, but they are almost all extremely busy. An independent Builder I have heard of in the area is Earl Harder. I have seen one of his homes and he does a nice job. Not sure if he can meet your price though, he builds mostly custom homes. Does that price include installing electric Service, any clearing, septic system? Those three alone in the are can easily top $30,000. We are in the middle of building in the same area, PM me if I can be of any assistance.

A comment about Adair Homes. They are weather tight. We had a fire in the wood stove last night. Lit about 8 PM and kept going until midnight. No fire all day yesterday, and I have let the fire go out this morning and don't expect to light the stove again until late afternoon because it is a bit too warm in the house right now.

This is a 2000 sq ft house with the wood stove at one end and that wood stove is the only heat we use.

They keep going up: in October the median price for a single-family home in Bend was $341,000, in Redmond $233,000.
