Hi Oregon peeps!

I am from WA and cutting across your lovely state on my way to visit family in CA. We are going to stay the night in Bend, visit Lava Rock Cave and Crater Lake Natl Park. I see that I can take the Cascade Lakes byway to make the trek between Bend and Crater Lake very enjoyable. I checked the federal highway administration website (where I learned about the byway) but I can't seem to find any information on if these roads are open... like you go to the National Park websites and they will tell you which roads around Crater Lake are still closed due to snow, but I'm not having any such luck with the federal highway transportation website. Maybe all these roads are open??? I don't know.. so I thought of asking the locals there.

Thanks! We're really looking forward to our Oregon travels!

Try this one:
TripCheck - Oregon Traveler Information

Crater Lake website:
The park announced that as of Nov 1st its North Entrance Road, and its East and West Rim drives will be closed for the winter. Park visitors should use Highway 62 to access the park from the south or west, officials said. “The North Entrance Road and Rim drives, with elevations from 5,580 to 7,960 feet above sea level, receive an average of more than 40 feet of snow each year and are not plowed from fall to late spring because of deep drifts, avalanche risk, and other dangerous conditions,” the release reads. The roads will reopen in spring or early summer. Exact dates depend on snow depth.
The following are now CLOSED for the winter season:

Rim Visitor Center

Annie Creek Restaurant

Annie Creek Gift Shop

Mazama Camperstore

Mazama Campground
