July - hot and dry. Majority of days were in the 90s.

Aug - forecast is for a HOT start!

If this weather trend keeps up....
Should be interesting eclipse viewing situation for the masses with 100+ deg temps and likely covering of smoke from all the fires they start.

What could possibly go wrong?

I'm not usually a fan of smoke, but that could actually enhance the viewing experience for the eclipse. I have never seen high altitude smoke thick enough to completely block the sun, but it sure does provide natural eye protection. The 100+ degree temperatures are more of a concern for me. I'm hoping the skies here on the coast will be clear enough to view the eclipse, so I can avoid that heat.

We still can't see Cline Buttes or Smith Rock from NW Redmond, which is unusual. We could use a good downpour - without lightning.
