Thank you for all of this excellent information.

Out of curiosity, what brought most of you to Bend? What are your favorite things to do in and around the area? I love hearing people's stories!

Well my husband and I decided to move to Bend for numerous reasons. First, the endless outdoor recreation opportunities, and the close proximity to the trailheads was especially important for us. We also loved the feel of the town. The general vibe here just seemed to speak to us. Another big reason we decided to move to Bend was the fact that some of our family decided to make the move with us. This was really important to us. Now that we've been here for just over 6 months, we can honestly say it was the best decision we've ever made. We grow to love the town a little more everyday. We are making good friends and enjoying all that Bend has to offer.

Of course, we love to eat out at the many good restaurants, although some have since gone by the wayside. The festivals this town puts on are great! We enjoy listening to live music, whether its at Les Schwab Ampitheatre, or a little dive bar, the music scene here is a big improvement from our previous city. It may not be Portland or Eugene, but we get our fair share of great artists coming through. All in all, we couldn't be happier!

Personally, as a 4th generation Native Californian, I find that too many "foreigners" (as in formerly east coast) have moved to California and forced us normal, conservatives to leave and come to Oregon. Now if we can just have a test before you can re-locate somewhere we might solve that problem :-)

Just adding on here, I guess I would love to get more information regarding differences between Bend and Redmond. I've heard that Redmond is more affordable, but what about the similarities and differences between Bend and Redmond. Anyone care to comment? Thank you.

Out of staters are driving costs up in Bend. The infrastruture has problems getting supplies into Bend in the quantities needed and this drives prices up. The city and High Desert Foothills were never meant to support this population.

Honestly I had never heard of Bend, being from Georgia on the East coast I had plans of move to Seattle, Wa, but I have a friend who lives in Redmond who introduced me to the area, so one day I took a trip up here and was blown away by the beauty, the biggest things that stayed with me were the mountain views and the rivers.

As an outsider it seems like you get a little more house for the money in Redmond but the property tax is much higher than I have here in Colorado. I'm hoping the no sales tax offsets it.
