We're currently looking to buy a house in Bend, OR. We're familiar with the town (having lived in Eugene before and traveled to Bend.) We'd like to be within biking distance of downtown and Old Mill District, say a 20 minute bike ride. We're looking at newer homes under $200,000.

I've seen some homes in Foxborough. Is that about a 20 minute bike ride to downtown, and how are the bike paths to get you there? (in other words, are we on established bike routes or not)

Any other suggestions for a bikeable neighborhood within that price range?

Thanks

Kelly

That neighborhood is in the SE part of Bend, correct? Honestly, I would say it's not very biking friendly, especially if you are used to Eugene. As far as I know, there are no biking paths to downtown from that area. Many of the bike versus car accidents tend to happen in the SE part of town, where most people don't bike and drivers are not paying attention.

The parts of town that are probably the most biking friendly would be the NW and SW. There are many biker friendly paths and routes in these parts of town. I live in mid-town, and we are about a 20 minute ride into downtown. I would say if you did bike from that neighborhood, you would be looking at about 30-40 minutes, as you would have to navigate some busy streets.
