We are going to use one ABF Relocube, and then ship a car. The thing about containers is that you would, I assume, half to pay for the rental of the container, the chassis it mounts to,the truck to make each leg of the move. That's four times it has to moved by a semi truck. Then you have to load and unload, and they don't provide a loading ramp. The floors of the containers are a good four feet from the ground.Etc.

But we have a different situation. We bought a fully furnished house in HPP that we are renting short term unti we move. So we will not need to mave ANY furniture, beds, dishes, etc, etc. We even get (an old) riding lawn mower. The folks we bought from were coming back to tha mainland, so had that hassle staring at them.We offered to buy all their stuff too and they jumped on it.

So here's what will go in out Relocube. My large tool box and tools. My wife's 200cc scooter.Maybe my motorcycle(or I may sell it here and buy over there).A few clothes.A few guitars and amps.Maybe an extension ladder.A few other little things. AND tABF drops the Relocube at your house. The floor is at ground level, so no loading ramps needed. You load it at your leisure. They pick it up and ship it and deliver it to your place on the island.Call them when it's empty and they pick it up.Doesn't get any easier than that.

Default containers and mattresses

Thanks for the great info on the availability of items. It kinda re-enforces the notions we had about most common items. The container is looking like a viable alternative. We will be looking off the beaten track for a spot and it would give us something to start with while we build a little spot, then it could turn into a potters studio or tool room. you hit on the one thing that will go with us no matter where we land and that is our memory foam matteress, I liked staying on the beach while we were there but I did miss that, guess that was about the only thing I missed stateside. Had a feeling about specialty items like kilns and clay, I appreciate you confirming that hunch. Mahalo
