Aloha!!

Just curious, hows the concrete business on The Big Island? has it taken a hit like the mainland has?

Much worse in Hawaii and even worse on the outer islands like the BI.

Way worse than PNW. The weirdest thing to see when I go back to WA is a help wanted sign. Even in a gas station. Construction has taken a huge hit even in the fastest growing areas of Hawaii.

I figured as much, but was curious. Yeah, my husband and I have owned a successful small concrete company here in central oregon since 1987. Of course now, it's pretty non existant. We've actually been thinking of heading to Washington for work. It seems to be better there.

Mahalo,
Kelly

I do drafting, so I see the jobs before the contractors do and there's not much stirring out there. Last year I had a few jobs wander across my desk, but nothing major and some of them "as builts". This year, there may be a garage out there that wants to be drawn sometime within the next several months, but other than that, not a lot. I don't advertise, though, but lots of folks know I do drafting so when there's work some of it usually lands on my desk. This is also Big Island and primarily residential/ agricultural sorts of blueprints. I do all types of drawing, but generally on this island, it mostly residential/agricultural.
