If you are attacked regularly, and your spouse(lover/friend/neighbor/sibling/etc.) almost never, it may be due to one or more of the following factors.
Diet - Is there something you consume regularly that the other one does not?
Personal hygene products - Do you use a different body or hair cleaning product?
Cosmetics/colognes/perfumes/after-shaves/etc.?
Does one of you favor bright colors while the other wears darks or earth tones?
Any or all MIGHT (according to popular opinion) be a factor. You may wish to isolate a few possibilities that apply to you. Then.... ONE THING AT A TIME... spend a few weeks w/o that influence in or on you. Over time, you may isolate the problem. Then it is a matter of choice. Which would you prefer to lose? The mosquitos, or the product?

Diet -- we have entirely different eating habits. My husband had throat cancer and is on a limited diet. I'm not about to change my eating habits to match his.
Personal hygene products -- of course we use different products! He's a man and I'm a woman. We're not about to use each other's stuff (well, we do use the same body soap).
Cosmetics -- neither of us uses any of that stuff. Not in Ka'u!
Color of clothing -- no difference between us

I did a little research of my own and found the following:
1. mosquitos are attracted to people who produce more lactic acid in their skin
2. type O blood attracts mosquitos more than other blood types
3. mosquitos are attracted to people with a higher metabolic rate, or the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) your body releases as it burns energy
4. I did find that mosquitos are attracted to dark clothing

Bottom line is, I'm not going to change my eating habits, shampoo, amount of exercise, or clothing. I'll be fine just using insect repellent.

You can get mail at the Post Office without having a box. Just have it sent to you at General Delivery, HuliHuli, HI 96737, or whatever it is.

Someone said a while ago about the winds in Hawaiin Ranchos, How bad are the winds in the lower part? There are not many trees so it is very open. That could be a deal breaker for me.

We get a steady trade wind here in the Suth Point area. It is good because it keeps our temperature moderate and it helps the vog blow on by without settling in. I live in Discovery Harbour, nearby, so I don't have exact experience with the Ranchos. Where I am it is usually more of a minor inconvenience, although sometimes it has blown very strongly for weeks at a time.

If winds are a deal breaker, then South Point is not the area for you.

Ya I like setting outside a lot and BBQing. The wind would be annoying if it was constant.
