I am surprised that Hawaii is funded by so many government grants and it seems that they funnel the money to the retiring physicians and are not funding new physicians who would move here. I am a licensed Radiologic Technologist and can't get work because the jobs either get filled by travelling techs or you find out after the application process that there is no opening. I have called our state licensing department and they tell me that several technologists are looking for work, yet the University of Hawaii is posting jobs for two instructors of Radiologic Technology. If techs can't get a job in their field, then why would the University train more? Just wondering....Advertisement Details, Advertisement Details this is a link to the indeed job postings by the University. I would love to hear back from fellow technologists.

I'm sorry, but from where I sit that doesn't seem to be an even remotely realistic interpretation of the facts, nor does it seem related to the rest of your post. You are not a physician.

Instructors and technologists are two entirely different occupations. Once they have advertised a program they have to staff it. Maybe somebody quit? In any case, you don't have the qualifications for the instructor job. .

You think that's bad? You should talk to graduates of acting schools!

Seriously, I feel your pain, but there's an ebb and flow cycle to every profession. Things can run hot, then cold, then hot again in any field, and a University degree or certification is never a guarantee of anything. Brand new nurses in Hawai'i can't find jobs either right now, while the Star-Advertiser just reported there is still some demand for those with experience. Did you research the near-term employment outlook for your chosen profession before you started training? More importantly, what do you plan to do now? Where else are you looking for a job?

Sorry, but per the TOS, links aren't enabled for brand new posters. You have to be around a little while and post several more messages before that function gets turned on.

Good luck.
