My family and I will be moving to kona on July first. Almost everything worked out already. We are pretty excited.

Just a few questions....where can local produce be bought for cheap? Non touristy farmers markets? Fruit stands open during the week?

Also, I can't find much by way of cable aside form oceanic and the prices seem utterly ridiculus on their website. Any other options?

Thanks in advance.

Just looking for local advice from locals.

God Bless

Welcome!

Ke Ola | Celebrating the Arts, Culture & Sustainability of Hawaii
The June 2014 issue of Ke Ola magazine has a full page (Page #80) listing farmers markets in the North, East, West, and South.

Our experience has varied with the different farmer's markets: try searching this forum for more info.

TWC was chosen for internet: their Turbo service has been reliable. For us, internet performance is more important than cost.
DirecTV is our TV choice

Best of luck!

you've got choices of TWC, RoadRunner and Aloha Broadband. Depends on what signals you can get or what cable is installed in your neighborhood. I suggest that you wait until you find a house, then ask your neighbors. You can also check uploading speeds on-line to compare.

Regarding the farmer's markets and local produce, you can have fun exploring the different markets. You really do need to compare the quality and choices, and figure out which sellers really do have local produce versus what they just picked up at Costco. Once you find one you like, you can establish relationships with the sellers and they will give you better selections and better prices. I go to the same seller at my local farmer's market and she's always throwing in extras for free.
