I was wondering what channels we might be able to get without cable hookup?? Any channels at all? My hubby is hoping to watch a football game the next AM after we arrive.

You won't know until you try. Mountains and clouds will impact you. 1 block might get football. The next might not.

Most sports bars open early for pro football season if you can't get it over the air.

In Orchidland we get 11 over-the-air channels.

what type of antenna are you using? We would need an indoor one. My hubby is calling Radio Shack in Kona right now to ask. But just wondering what everyone is using.

The database at Antennaweb.org is fairly accurate, simply type in the address where the antenna will be located…

I could only get one channel with a fancy indoor antenna.

This is the outdoor antenna we use. I selected this model because I contacted the manufacturer and they researched my location and the topography and recommended this model. They even told me how/where to aim it.

I would look to buy it somewhere other than Amazon though... I noticed the current listed price is 2x what we paid:

Edited to add, I would get this model, because it will do a better job pulling in VHF stations:
