I have no desire to relocate to the mainland - but I do have a desire to freely go to the mainland and return without quarantine and risk of arrest.

Yup, it's gonna suck with no major vacation this year. But, better to be 'stuck' here than pretty much anywhere else. It does look like we're gonna have an amazing garden this year.

Still at it, eh officer? What needs to be said is: “additional to, and with a mortality rate exceeding, the seasonal flu ... and without any known treatment or prevention protocols

Agree completely! We would have been leaving today for LAX and tomorrow for London. All cancelled.
And like you, if I have to be stuck somewhere, here looks really good!

Maybe a couple of nights in Oahu or Kauai later this summer.

I disagree - Hawaii probably ranks the worst place to be "stuck" right now as you can't come and go as you please.

At no other state do you risk arrest for leaving your home like Hawaii does when you arrive in the state. you can't even travel to another island.

Agree. Something I don't think visitors will appreciate, either. I hope they are all made aware of restrictions before wasting money and being STUCK in a room for 14 days. At least the insane ankle bracelet idea to make them feel like criminals seems to have gone by the wayside. Hawaii's going to take a hit with many hesitant to even get on an airplane in the near future.

I thought Alaska was under the same rules we are?

Just checked on the ferry to Lanai. It's scheduled to reopen July 1st. I wonder if a day trip will be possible there?

Alaska is indeed, though change supposedly coming within a week that will allow for a negative test result in place of quarantine. Also quarantine is not enforced, rather entirely dependent upon the good faith of travelers.

The quarantine within Hawaii for inter island travel is way overdue for repealing.

There was a recent Facebook post from Governor Ige asking residents what they were "worried" about with coronavirus. Quite a response, the vast majority of it negative. People are fed up and read him the riot act.

Alaska has the same rules - they are not enforced - more like a suggestion.

It is voluntary

That's what I like to hear, hotzcatz. I'm on my way soon. Most plans in place. I will take precautions and be respectful. I cannot wait to get the heck out of California. I used to really like it, but not so much these last few years. I'm in Huntington Beach under a curfew right now because of a bunch of idiots (most of whom don't even live here).
