If you want to hire folks to do construction work, you will be able to find loads of workers. If you want to be a worker, well, the outlook isn't so good.

I would suspect you get it through the state. some people just sell their catch out of their boat or car after a day of fishing. if you wanted to sell to the resturants and things I would bet there are already some established fisherman who are doing that. might be very hard to break into that. I bet you could find out by doing some research, maybe start with a list of the fishing charters and go from there. good luck

too my knowledge which is brief - there is no commerical fishing lisence ... friends of mine just sold to resturants and fish markets. Another friend had a lobster boat will ask him but he never mentioned a commeriacal license .... you just have to have the connections- even if their is such a thing as a commerical license. I really don't think it would help you. The connections mean more.

Me and my wife are planning to move to the Big Islands. I live in florida right now doing construction finish work and painting and staning cabinets. it would be nice to start something like that there but i dont know how construction is doing there.

Construction work is very sparse right now. There is little new construction going on and many carpenters are trying to make ends meet by doing small repairs and remodels. our unemployment rate at the moment is nearly 10%, up from about 3% about 14 months ago. Unless you have enough savings to live on for possibly several months, this is not a good time to move here without a firm job lined up.
