Agree with this. If a bird is injured generally you'd want it to be less active so the injury can heal. A smaller cage (or partially covering one so it feels a little warmer and more secure) can encourage it to rest, especially a bird in a new home. I've found for small birds, using a smaller thinner towel makes it easier to feel how you are holding it once it is caught, and is also easier to maneuver in a small space than a big fluffy one. You want the capture to be quick.
