My sister recently died and had about 20 pet doves. Her husband is disabled and cannot take care of them. I'm in central CT can I just release them? You may reply at johnmos53@yahoo.com

NO, not only is it cruel (they are domesticated) but its also illegal.
put an add on craigslist, and call any local shelters you can find , most will be happy to try and help you out given the situation.

Don't release them, they are used to being cared for and would have no way of how to care for themselves in the wild.

As already mentioned, but an ad in your local Craigslist for them and you will probably find homes quickly.

I'm sorry for your loss.

Here is a link to a couple of bird clubs in CT. Here is one specific to doves & pigeons. This list has bird rescue groups & sanctuairies in CT. Any of these may be able to steer you in the right direction.

Good luck!
