What about it would make it popular. All I saw was some mating display.
My chickens are more fun than those were. Noisy little buggers too. My African Grey makes a lot of noise but it's pleasant to listen to- those birds just screeched.

I agree with owl on this...the pacifics are prettier overall, these guys are beautiful, but unless your keeping a breeding pair you wouldn't see the tail flares showing of the color...and without the gold, there cute...but so are the other subspecies of p-let
I love all birds, but if it wasn't so very rare, I'd want a Kakapo Parrot. I saw them on tv and they said they're as friendly as a dog and flightless. (poor babies) They put the A in adorable. Very cute birds OP.
Aw man, just went and checked, and there's only 126 left.

breeinmo, I love kakapo, the zoo I worked with had a male, hed been donated form a private collection in hopes of finding him a mate...we never did find one for him though, and he passed of old age. he was a character, NO fear of humans, hed follow you everywhere and "talk" to you.
and yes...during breeding season he was happy to "involve" his keepers in his breeding ritual, we had to give him a stuffed animal because hed get realy frustrated and even agressive about it...
don't you love it though, 1 poster posts a video of a male bird during a mating ritual...and thinks it makes them perfect pets...but seeing another birds mating ritual makes you nasty...
ill admit kakapos are not exactly romanic about their wooing...but that's what the parrotlets in the irst vid were TRYING to accomplish...hes at least to the point LOL!
Seriously? You call someone a name because they don't agree with you?
I do not like birds at all that are considered "pets" which is my choice, truthfully I don't like most birds in or out of the wild.
They are loud, dirty, annoying and spew poo anywhere and everywhere.
