hi- just discovered this site and have enjoyed reading the posts, especially the ones regarding our furry friends. We have feathered ones as well and all three are rescues. We have two loudbeauties that are cockatoos and a little blue headed conure. Love my birdie babies as well as my cats and dogs. No we are not a registered petting zoo but our home is child friendly. We enjoy chatting with stunned drivers who pull over and stop when they see our birds playing with us outside in our lawn. Just wanted to see if anyone else is as bird crazy?

I'm one!

2 parrots, an African Grey (Timneh) and a Cherry-headed Conure. The Grey is a rescue, she was 3 when we adopted her (she was a plucked chicken ).

They live with 3 dogs (one animal control adoption, two street-dog rescues) and an old Siamese cat.

Yes, I have my own small zoo.

Glad to see another bird lover on-board.....welcome to forum!

We brought Angus home as a foster - he'd been starved. He and hubby fell in love and there's no way I can adopt him out now. He's finally gained weight too!!

Our only current foster puppy. We think she's going to PA in April to be trained in drug search for the sheriff's department!! Woo Hoo!

We have two dogs, one cat and an African Grey. This is so small a number compared to what we used to have.... But since we now live in a city, it's still a lot!

Mrs. 1885, I love those turtles!!

I always thought it would be nice to bring in some turtles or tortoises and let them live in the garden....maybe some day.

And yes, you zoo trumps my zoo for sure!

Thank you! Your babies are gorgeous too!

How well does your TAG talk? You'd never know she was a rescued plucked chicken ! Very pretty little girl!

Boo talks a mile a minute. He's 7 now so he's practicing saying the words he knows in a variety of different ways with varied vocal inflections, loudness and tones.
His favorites things to say right now are

Barking like the dogs (very annoying)
Ho-Ho-Ho (he doesn't know Christmas is over)
Belching (very disgusting, belly rollers that will make you nauseous)

I think I could do without the belching sound!

It's hard to say how many words or phrases, because she changes her "favorites" often, so her language is always in rotation, but I'd say including everything she's even said only once, about 200 words/phrases.

She talks to all the other pets, but it's very clear who her favorites are (her companion bird -the conure, and our male dog). She likes to talk about herself a lot ("good girl! sweet bird!").

And yes, she barks too! So funny! She also yells at the dogs, often before I get a chance to - she'll yell out "Dooooogs!" and "Hey! Hey! Stop that!"

She can also do the imitation of "dog-drinking-water-from-the-bowl" (glug-glug-glug), the microwave beep, so many things.

She came to us cursing like a sailor, but I think she's forgotten most of those words (we're very careful what we say in front of her).

Too funny. i will post a pic of our cocatoo showerinng to the west side story theme of "I feel pretty" as soon as I learn how to use my new camera_ Nice to chat-

I have a conure, a cocatiel, 4 rabbits, 4 cats, a dog, 30 chickens and 2 roosters. About ten years ago I had 37 chickens, 1 rooster, 2 cats, 18 turkey, 4 dogs, a conure, 2 cockatiel, 3 pigeons and 77 parakeets. AT the time I was an assistant for an aviary that had 65 parrots. I felt like a zoo keeper, especially in the summer when there were baby animals of every kind. I loved it.
