This is a beautiful video but the comments under the video were very enlightening. I had no idea they bonded only with 1 person and can live as long as 80 years.

oh yes they bond and when the bond is broken through death it is really hard on the bird . I'm allergic to caged birds and gave my birds to my sister who took my grandmothers bird when she passed . However the harlequin macaw that my grandmother had died three weeks after she did and the avian vet did a neocropsy and said he could find nothing that would have caused the death so we figured he died of a broken heart .

I had a pet Hyacinth Macaw who was just as affectionate. They are absolutely incredible companion birds and have wonderful personalities, especially when hand-raised. They are like small children and closely bond with their owners.

Strange to think that they can open a Brazil nut with their beak in only one crunch and can be so gentle and affectionate at the same time.
