Lutino budgies clearly don't like sunshine. I have had budgies, blue and green, and they don't mind sunshine. My luntino budgie, however, stays completely away from it. A little sun ray on a cloudy day, shines through a partially covered window into the living room. About 70% of the cage was hit with sun rays. My lutino hang onto the edge of the 30% shaded area. He even stayed away from the perch and hang on to the side of the cage. I have never seen my other budgies do that.

Oh, this was morning sun rays in early spring, on a cool day.

My thought is that their eyes are just more sensitive to light like with Albinos. Just provide sufficient shading and their should be no problems for the bird. No big mystery.

Do they get sunburn more easily too, on their feet and other bare skin?

I used Coppertone on my budgies. Never had that problem.

Ask a silly question, get a silly answer. Don't take it personally.

My suggestion about providing sufficient shade is still the best advice. The budgies will avoid any situation where they may be harmed given sufficient protection from the elements.
