Agree. IME, birds who have the company of other birds of their own species (particularly those of the opposite sex) rely somewhat less on their humans for it. There are always exceptions.

I would say "male" there is already a blueish tone to the cere and it is a very young bird.

Although, taking the pet store's word on the age because the bird doesn't show any stripes on the forehead.
