This underrated part of the metro seems to be growing a lot with residential and retail developments. We all know about Grand River and its thousands of homes making Leeds become one of the largest cities in the metro in the future.............But, does anyone know any information on the following retail developments:
  • The Shoppes at Grand River (tenants)
  • Gateway Towne Center
Your cooperation and information are very appreciated!

I don't know but I sure hope that Grand River helps out the part of Leeds leading into downtown. It's been mostly boarded up for a long time.

I doubt it would. Most anything new will most likely be built between Barber's and Birmingham. I expect a lot of hotels and restaurants to pop up there over the next five to ten years.

I had not heard anything about it, but the only website I could find about claimed it was opening in Fall of '09. So it looks like it is dead in the water. I haven't been out that way in a while, but I'll make it a point to visit the area soon to see if any ground has been broken.

My wife and I did drive by The Shoppes at Grand River Sunday and it looked to be coming along strong. It didn't look like it could be ready by the fall - to me - but I've seen things come together quicker then expected before.

I drove by the Grand River site this weekend as well. I had no idea it was so far along already. But please tell me there is some plan to widen US 78 from its current 2-lane configuration. Otherwise, what a cluster.

Yeah really. It had a lot going on on both sides of the road, like out parcel and, maybe restaurants. Two lanes won't near be enough. It could very easily become the next "31" or "280" unless they get a handle on it now.

I'm pretty sure that died a long time ago. They could never find the tenants. It would be too close to Pinnacle and Summit and most everything they had lined up went to either one of those places.
