My wife and I will be moving from Auburn to Birmingham within the month. We've already got an Apartment lined up for the short-term, but are hoping to be out of it as soon as possible. Originally, we had planned on moving into the Highlands area. However, after speaking with a family member who lived there in the Early-Mid 90's, he isn't sure if that's the best idea safety-wise or for our return on investment should we decide to leave. I've always lived very close to any Downtown area I've been near (Atlanta, Tampa, Auburn), so I naturally was hoping to do the same in Birmingham. I was disheartened to learn that B'ham is one of the top-5 most dangerous cities in the country, but I was hoping to learn that there is no worry of moving into Highlands. So you guys know, We're a young couple, late 20's, with a 2 year old son, and a newborn baby girl. I don't travel for work, so I won't be gone for long periods, but I don't want to have to worry about my family should I decide to go out for a run or what not. Thanks for any help, and feel free to ask questions to clarify. I feel like I've kinda rambled a bit in this post, but I was pretty excited about a few of the houses we found in the area with some amazing views, but if safety is even a concern, I'm no longer interested.

safety is important! if you want the best security, views, outdoor living, privacy, fishing or swimming and great neighbors plus a fantastic elementary school next neighborhood over look at shoal creek. www.1dogwoodforest is one of the prettiest homes there.

This post is 7 years old. My guess is they've already made up their mind. So you can save your hater rant you are about to tool up.
