We are thinking about moving and would like to ideally stay in the bham area. We need property for horses at least 20 acres. We want somewhere somewhat close to bham while being as close as possible to our parents for the sake of our children. One set lives near glencoe and the other priceville. Is there a happy medium in between these three places with good schools, accessible to an interstate?

It depends on how close you need to be to the interstate. The Montevallo area is great (we live out here) but the traffic into B'ham can be a hassle, and you're on the wrong side of town for Gadsden or Priceville.

It also depends on what you mean by good schools. 20 acres means you'll need to live fairly rurally, which means you'll have more rural schools that may not be as competitive or offer as much as the suburban B'ham schools. That isn't bad, but it is what it is.

Consider looking in Blount County, in the Odenville, Cleveland, etc. areas, and you'll be sort of between Priceville and Gadsden/Glencoe. Blount is a dry county (if that matters) but there is land to be had not too expensively as compared to closer in to B'ham (Trussville, Montevallo, McCalla, etc.). Oneonta is about a 40-minute drive to Birmingham.
