What are your thoughts on the downtown redevelopment campaign in Birmingham? Will it have any real effects, or does the inner city already have too bad of a reputation? Downtown Atlanta has a higher crime rate but a thriving downtown area.

I think it's coming back nicely in fact. Before 2008, occupancy downtown was about the 90% mark, and it looks as if there's all kinds of development continuing downtown. The loft community has added a lot of dimension to the place, the Railroad Park seems to be a nexus for the community, and the coming baseball field can only help. The fact that there are any number of restaurants and nightclubs downtown when there were practically none ten years ago says quite a lot.
