My husband is up for a job in Birmingham. He is told he has a very good chance of getting it so we maybe moving in a few weeks. During the summer he worked there for 3 weeks and the family tagged along. Our chirldren loved it. So I would like some help knowing areas best for us to look for a home. We have a daughter 13 who is a honor roll students and in gifted class, on the middle school golf team, and does competitive baton twirling. We also have a 5 year old son who is beginning to play sports. We are looking to rent a newer home not apartment. We are not sure how long we will be there, 1 maybe 2 years. I would like to keep the rent around 1000.00 to 1300.00 a month. I would also like to know more about the areas of Helena, Hoover, Trussville (read somewhere they have a meth and gang problem),Vestavia, Mountain Brook, Chelsea, and Homewood. Any help would be great.

For the "read somewhere" - last fall Greystone had a wild party where the mother supplied beer to teenagers. The little rascals raided the fridge. Greystone Farms had a meth lab explode. A electrical short in a vehicle resulted in a fire and the resident did not want to deal with nosy neighbors and their dogs on leashes at 4:00 am. Greystone Farms - peeping tom allert turned out to be a maid's foot prints on the carpet.

To me, the question is where your husband will be working. Then I would choose a community that gives him a good commute. All of those neighborhoods will be fine for you and your children.
